Being a member of Marietta Martial Arts has been a great influence on my fight with weight loss and health. I have battled with my weight for most of my life. Like most people, I like to work out when it's fun and find trouble staying focused on fitness when I am forced to do the same hum drum routine day in and day out. The great part about MMA is that you don't even realize you're working out. The drills you do are fun. Before MMA, I used to dread a 1 hour workout. Now, I can't believe 1 hour is already over. My flexibility has increased, I lost weight (seemingly without effort), and my endurance and stamina increased. I can't speak enough about MMA.

Being a busy person, working full-time, attending school part-time, does not leave a lot of time for other activities. And that is what is so great about taking martial arts. It helps me to maintain or lose weight, while at the same time I am increasing strength, endurance, flexibility, and it helps relieve stress. And to add to all of that, I have also learnt self defense. I hope I never have to use it but I know if something were to happen I would at least stand a fair chance of getting away from a potentially harmful situation. There are two more benefits I would like to add. First, attending TKD classes gives one the opportunity to socialize with others who hold similar values for physical fitness and self improvement. Secondly, the chance to share the knowledge one has gained with another. It is very rewarding to help others improve and reach their goals.

I think that thing I’ve noticed the most is that I just feel better when I go out by myself…running or going downtown or whatever. And even though I’ve only been here a few months, I feel like I can handle myself a little more so than I could before and not feel completely helpless, but I’ve still got a long way to go and it’s just a lot of fun being here. Everybody’s really friendly and the classes are fun and I really have enjoyed it.
